Among MIG\u2019s offerings are <strong>chromium (VI) reducing agents <\/strong>that limit toxicity in cement or cement-based materials and a <strong>thermal insulation coating system<\/strong> for improving energy performance and fire protection of buildings and other structures.<\/p>\n<h3>The MIG story<\/h3>\n<p>MIG\u2019s story began in 2001, when Dipl.-Chem.Ing.<strong> Burkhard Brandt<\/strong> and Beton Ing.<strong> Wolfgang Bonder<\/strong> teamed up in their makeshift office in Paderborn, Germany, with the idea of developing an innovative chromate reduction system to help solve the regulatory problem facing cement and mortar plants in Europe &#8211; the maximum acceptable concentration of chromium (VI) in cement or cement-based materials must be limited to 2 ppm.<\/p>\n<p>Hexavalent chromium is a toxic compound found in cement or mortar that can cause allergic contact dermatitis and even more serious diseases. It is also environmentally hazardous once discharged into groundwater, endangering our health and biodiversity as it can lead to water contamination. This has resulted in the introduction of the EU legislation limiting the content of hexavalent chromium in cement.<\/p>\n<p>Today, MIG has grown from humble beginnings into a global player with its headquarters in Salzkotten, Germany.<\/p>\n<h3>Our mission<\/h3>\n<p>Both founders held leading positions in their previous careers in the construction chemical industry with years of experience in solving construction challenges using new materials with sustainability at its core. So since its inception, the company has been driven by a clear mission, and that is to develop sustainable construction materials to enhance the environmental performance of buildings and promote health.<\/p>\n<h3>Chromate reduction system<\/h3>\n<p>MIG\u2019s chromate reduction system features tin (II) sulfate and antimony (III) oxide, the state-of-the-art technology that offers superior, durable reducing power compared to iron (II) sulfate. With an uncompromising commitment to quality and craftsmanship while maintaining efficiency, MIG would go on to set industry benchmarks for high-quality customised chromate reduction and establish itself as a leader.<\/p>\n<h3>Thermal insulation coating system<\/h3>\n<p>The company has since continually reinvented itself, adopting innovations to diversify its product offerings to include a sustainable thermal insulation coating system for use in different surfaces including those of buildings and other structures to optimise surface performance, such as energy-efficiency, fire protection, resistance to corrosion and health promotion. The coating system consists of a thin-film heat-reflective finish coat and a wide range of functional plasters with varying properties like dehumidification, thermal insulation, fire resistance, etc. to meet different surface protection requirements. The technology has gained a lot of traction since its launch in 2009, both nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n<h3>Our technologies<\/h3>\n<p>Dipl.-Chem.Ing.<strong> Burkhard Brandt<\/strong> is the inventor of chromate reduction based on tin (II) sulfate, which laid the groundwork for a new generation of chromate reducing agents. Later on, MIG developed a unique production process for a new series of chromate reducers based on antimony (III) oxide in a dust-free encapsulated form.<\/p>\n<p>MIG\u2019s other major innovation is the underlying technology behind our thermal insulation coating system &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/mig-mbh.de\/en-GB\/mig-esp\/\"><strong>DHMb<\/strong><strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong><strong> Double Hybrid Membrane<\/strong><\/a>, a micro-porous membrane embedded in the coating that manipulates thermal radiation and regulates moisture, thus improving energy efficiency of the coated surface.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, MIG has upheld its dedication to environmental sustainability through material innovation, constantly ramping up its R&amp;D efforts to stay ahead of market trends and remain competitive. Innovative materials with strong environmental credentials are being modified and made to address changing market demands. These include <strong>a novel fire-resistant coating technology<\/strong> for various surfaces including walls and metal, which can trigger a revolution in material science.<\/p>\n<h3>Partners worldwide<\/h3>\n<p>As our products successfully gained a foothold in different markets across the globe, MIG\u2019s worldwide network is being continuously expanded to accommodate its increasingly internationalised business activities.<\/p>\n<p>A large number of joint projects and collaborative research have been carried out in the past two decades between MIG and its partners both home and abroad, resulting in increased sales, new markets and new products to the benefit of both sides.<\/p>\n<h3>Looking ahead<\/h3>\n<p>In 2021, MIG celebrated its <a href=\"https:\/\/mig-mbh.de\/en-GB\/happy-20th-birthday-mig\/\">20th anniversary<\/a>. In the same year, we rolled out one of the most ambitious projects of our company\u2019s history \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/mig-mbh.de\/en-GB\/new-production-facility\/\">building a new production facility<\/a> that is fully automated right next to our existing manufacturing plant.
