MIG-Weya-Art

MIG’s innovation depicted in Weya art

“MIG 20 Years” – a unique painting by one of Zimbabwe’s renowned Weya artist Irene Karuva – is a colourful celebration of harmony between innovation, the natural environment and rural community development.

Featuring bright composition, spontaneous creativity and childlike simplicity, Weya is an indigenous Zimbabwean art form that tells stories about local way of life.

The inspiration for Irene’s artwork was MIG’s climate-friendly coating technology recently presented in South Africa aimed at supporting local communities to live more sustainably. Irene used Weya to depict the bustling scenes of villagers painting their home with MIG-ESP® energy-efficient coating, which reflects one of the projects that MIG is working on with local partners.

This is an extraordinary gift for MIG’s 20-year anniversary, and a boost to solidify MIG’s dedication to helping fight climate change in Africa.
